Ruskin Bond is a British-born Indian author who is most recognized for his contributions to the promotion of children’s literature in India. He has almost 500 short stories, articles, and novels to his credit. His best-selling novel ‘The Blue Umbrella’ has been adapted into a Hindi film. In 2007, it won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film. Bond is also the author of more than 50 children’s books as well as two autobiographies. When India was under colonial administration, he was born as the son of a British couple. His early years were spent at Jamnagar and Shimla.
