Ramesh Bais Biography, Wiki:- Ramesh Bais is an Indian politician who currently serves as the 23rd Governor of Maharashtra. Bais served as governor of Tripura from 2019 to 2021 and of Jharkhand from 2021 to 2023 before this appointment. He is a Bharatiya Janata Party member and has held several political positions during his career, including that of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment and Forests in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administration. As a representative of the Raipur constituency, Bais has won seven elections to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, where he has served as a member of the 9th Lok Sabha (1989) and the 11th through 16th Lok Sabhas.

Bais formerly served as the Governor of Jharkhand. He began his political career as a councilor in the Raipur Municipal Corporation in 1980 and went on to win the Raipur Lok Sabha constituency seven times for the BJP, earning a reputation as a giant killer, in addition to holding several important positions in the party, before being elected governor of Tripura in 2019.
Bais moved into Ranchi’s Raj Bhavan in July 2021. Among the persons, he beat throughout his legislative career were Congress bigwig V C Shukla and current Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Shukla beat Bais by 900 votes in his first election loss in Raipur after 1989.

Career
In 1978, he won his initial election to the Raipur Municipal Corporation. In the Mandir Hasod Constituency, Bais won the MP Assembly election in 1980. Satyanarayan Sharma, a candidate for the Congress, defeated Bais for the seat in the 1985 election. He was initially elected to the Indian parliament in 1989, representing Raipur in the 9th Lok Sabha, and was subsequently re-elected in 1996 to the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th Lok Sabhas.
Up until May 2004, Bais held the position of Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Mines and Environment and Forests as well as Minister of State (Union) for Steel, Mines, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Information, and Broadcasting. From July 2019 until July 2021, he presided as Governor of Tripura, succeeding Kaptan Singh Solanki. He has been the 10th Governor of Jharkhand since July 14, 2021.
