His father worked as a civil engineer, and his mother stayed at home. Rahul Purkayastha, his younger brother, is a software developer. Prabir Purkayastha graduated from St. Xavier’s Collegiate School in Kolkata. He subsequently attended the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur for his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Later, he relocated to Allahabad to pursue a master’s degree in computer science at the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT).
