IBPS PO/MT 2019 Selection Process

Probationary Officers and Management Trainees are recruited every year through a Common Written Exam (CWE), commonly known as the IBPS PO Examinations. The PO selection process consists of three phases (preliminary, mains and interview) and the aspirants must qualify each of them to proceed to the next round. Moreover, mentioned below are the important rounds of the IBPS Probationary Officers Recruitment Process:

Online Preliminary Examination

  • An adequate number of aspirants in each category are shortlisted by IBPS depending upon requirements for Online Mains Examination

Online Mains Examination

  • Aspirants must qualify the sectional as well as overall cut-off marks in the mains exam to be eligible for interview.


  • The interview will be conducted by the Participating Authorities and coordinated by the Nodal Banks in each State with the help of the authority.

Final Result

  • The final results are released on the basis of aspirants combined performance in IBPS PO Main and Interview Rounds.

IBPS PO 2019 Exam Pattern

IBPS announced separate sectional timing for each part in the Pre exam. The IBPS PO exam for hiring applicants will be based on an online written test in two parts: Tier 1 or Pre Exam and Tier 2 or Main Exam. This Exam is followed by an interview process.

IBPS PO Pre Exam Pattern

The IBPS PO Pre-examination has a total duration of 1 hour and 20 minutes for each section, which will be held in online mode. It is based on 3 sections with a total of 100 questions and maximum marks of 100. There is negative marking in the IBPS PO Prelims exam and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong. Aspirants must clear the cut-score in all three sections to qualify for the PO Mains exam. The part-wise details are provided below:

Aspirants have to qualify in each of the three parts by securing minimum cut-score marks to be decided by the authority. The adequate number of aspirants in each category as decided by authority depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for the Online Mains Exam.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern

The IBPO PO Mains exam is also conducted on online mode, it has 5 (4+1) parts with total marks of 200+25 score and the total duration of 180+30 minutes. An aspirant has to pass both preliminary and mains exam to be eligible for the interview round.

PO/MT CWE IX Eligibility Criteria – 2019

Educational Qualifications

Graduation Degree: The eligibility criteria for the IBPS PO exam is as basic as a graduation degree (BA, BSc, B.Com, B.Tech or as such) in any discipline from a recognized University by the Government of India. Any such aspirants who have received equivalent qualifications which are recognized by the Central Govt. is also eligible to apply for this Recruitment.

Age Eligibility of Applicants applying for PO/MT CWE IX Exam:

Any applicants who are applying for the IBPS CWE Exam should not be less than 20 years old and not more than 30 years old as on 01st August 2019. In addition to this, there is age relaxation provided to category wise applicants as per the government rules.
