Early Life: – Kay grew born in Bolton, Greater Manchester, as the elder son of Norman, a truck driver, and Gladys; he has a younger brother, Stephen, who works as a primary school teacher. His went to St Joseph’s RC High School in Horwich, which is near Bolton. Then they earned a degree in environmental science from Manchester Polytechnic. He is a fan of his hometown football team, Bolton Wanderers.
Professional Career: – Vernon was working as a cutter of wooden panels at a DIY shop and, in his own words, “lived for the weekend” when he was persuaded to attend the BBC Clothes Show Live, where he was recruited by a modeling agency after agreeing to do a catwalk in exchange for three beers. He was an instant hit because of his odd appearance, and he went on to model for several years.
Kay used his modeling breakthrough to establish a television career, co-hosting duties on adolescent entertainment programmes T4 on Channel 4 and The Mag on Channel 5. Following this, Kay hosted the summer CBBC Saturday morning show Fully Booked (later renamed FBI, Fully Booked Interactive), as well as TOTP+ Plus and TOTP@Play in 2000.
