Uday Saharan was born on September 8, 2004, in Sri Ganganagar, a city in northern Rajasthan near the Pakistan border. He belongs to the Saharan caste, a subgroup of the Jat clan, and practices Hinduism. He has a younger sister who studies at school. Uday’s father, Sanjeev Saharan, is an Ayurvedic doctor who operates a clinic in the city. His mother, whose name is unknown, is a homemaker. His father was enthusiastic about cricket and aspired to be a professional player, but for a variety of circumstances, he was unable to realize his ambition. He decided to help his son pursue his cricket dreams and enrolled him at DAV Public School, where he completed his elementary and secondary schooling.

He was interested in cricket from an early age and began playing with a tennis ball in his garden.  Saharan quickly attended a nearby cricket academy, where he learned the fundamentals of the sport and improved his batting and bowling abilities. He also played for his school’s team and competed in different inter-school and district events. He admired the renowned Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar and attempted to mimic his approach and technique. Uday Saharan passed his 12th grade in 2022 and performed well on the exam. Career

Uday Saharan began his professional cricket career in the 2020-21 season when he was picked for the Rajasthan Under-16 squad. He did well in the national under-16 event, the Vijay Merchant Trophy, amassing 312 runs in six matches, including a century and two fifties. He also grabbed 11 wickets with his off-spin bowling, leading his team to reach the quarterfinals. Saharan maintained his strong form into the 2021-22 season when he was promoted to the Rajasthan under-19 squad. He competed in the national under-19 competition Cooch Behar Trophy, scoring 487 runs in seven matches, including two centuries and a half-century. He has made his senior debut for Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a domestic T20 event.

Uday piqued the interest of the national selectors, who named him as a reserve player for the Indian Under-19 squad for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022 in South Africa. He did not get to compete in that competition. Uday’s major break came during the 2022-23 season when he was named captain of the Indian Under-19 side for the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, which was held in Bangladesh.
