Prior to that, he was the Chief Commercial Officer of Equity Bank Kenya from May 2018 until September 2018, when he was appointed to Managing Director.
Igathe was elected as the second Deputy Governor of Nairobi County on a Jubilee Party ticket in the 2017 Kenyan national elections. Prior to this, he was the managing director of Vivo Energy Kenya, which he left in May 2017 to run for government. On January 31, 2018, he quit as Deputy Governor of Nairobi County.
