Chitra Ramkrishna was born in 1963 in (information not available). She is the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Ramakrishnan was selected as Forbes’ Women Leader of the Year in 2013.

She began her career as a chartered accountant, and her first foray into finance was in 1985, when she joined the Industrial Development Bank of India’s project financing branch (IDBI). Ramkrishna then worked for the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for two years before returning to IDBI.  She was chosen by the late SS Nadkarni, the chairman of IDBI at the time, to start NSE from the ground up.

She completed her schooling at Private School and college at the University of India.
