Betty Amongi, the Gender Minister, is among the government officials who have already arrived to Engola’s residence in Kyanja.

Engola was born on October 12, 1958, in the current Oyam District. He went to the local primary school. According to his profile on the Ugandan parliament’s website, he graduated from Soroti Secondary School in the city of Soroti, in Uganda’s Eastern Region. Kampala International University (KIU) awarded him his first degree, a Bachelor of Development Studies, in 2010. In 2013, he earned his second degree from KIU, a Master’s in Public Administration and Management.

Engola ran successfully for the Local Council 5 (LCV), Oyam District Council Chairmanship on the ruling NRM political party ticket during the 2006 national election cycle.
