Bugri Naabu had been active in Ghanaian politics previous to his appointment, serving as a member of the NPP national council. He was the Regional Chairman of the Ghana Contractors Association for the then-Upper Region and a significant player in the Northern Region’s NPP. In 2018, he was appointed to the NPP’s National Council after losing his re-election effort to Mr Mohammed Samba Baantima.
